Privacy policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
This page gives a general overview of how The Invoice Generator handles the information entered into the app, on this website, and in related account workflows.
Who we are
The Invoice Generator is run by Sathya Narayanan, a sole proprietor based in India. We are the controller of the personal information described here, except for the information a business sends to its own clients through the app, where that business is the controller and we process it on its behalf (see "People our users send documents to" below). For privacy questions, email support@the-invoice-generator.com.
Scope
This page applies to the website the-invoice-generator.com, the main The Invoice Generator app, related account workflows, and support interactions connected to the app.
It is intended as a general description of how we handle data and may be updated as the product changes.
Information we collect
We may collect information you enter directly into the app, information related to account access, and information you share when you contact us.
- Account details such as name, email address, login credentials, verification status, and profile updates.
- Workspace information such as business name, address, logo, billing contacts, clients, items, invoices, estimates, notes, and document terms.
- Operational information such as app activity, error or security signals, and support communications.
- Billing information for paid plans, such as your plan, billing country and payment status. Payments are handled by Paddle, so we don't receive or store full card numbers.
This website
This website is hosted on Amazon Web Services. It doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. If you email us, we use your name, email address and message only to reply to you.
People our users send documents to
If a business uses The Invoice Generator to send you an invoice or estimate, we process your name, email address and the document's details on that business's behalf, to deliver the email and show the document at its private link. We record when the link is opened and whether the email was delivered, so the business can see it. The business decides what's in the document. To correct it, or to stop receiving its emails, contact the business. You can also email support@the-invoice-generator.com.
How we use information
We use information to provide the app, support document workflows, keep accounts accessible, communicate about important account events, and respond to support needs.
- Create, store, edit, and display invoices, estimates, clients, and item records.
- Authenticate users, support password recovery, and send verification or service-related emails.
- Review app health, investigate bugs, and help protect the service from misuse or unexpected issues.
- Provide support and make general improvements to workflows and reliability.
We use information this way to provide the service you signed up for, for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and improving it, to meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting records, and with your consent where the law requires it.
We don't send marketing email through the app, and we don't sell or share email addresses.
Sharing and disclosures
We do not present app content as public by default. Information may be disclosed in limited circumstances when reasonably necessary to operate the service, respond to legal obligations, or protect the app and its users.
- Paddle.com, our online reseller and Merchant of Record, which processes payments, billing and tax for paid plans under its own privacy notice.
- Service providers that host the app, deliver email, and store files, such as Amazon Web Services and DigitalOcean.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, when needed to run the business.
- Authorized workspace members using the same account or workspace.
- Courts, regulators, or law enforcement when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the service or others.
Retention and security
We keep account and workspace information while your account is open. After an account is closed, we delete it, except for what we need to keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons, or to resolve disputes. Emails sent to support are kept as long as needed to help you.
The app's information is stored with our service providers in the United States.
We use reasonable measures to protect account and app information, but no internet-based service can guarantee complete security in every situation.
Your choices and rights
Account holders can update much of their own information directly in the app. You can also contact us if you need help with account access or questions about the information connected to your account.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, or to object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, email support@the-invoice-generator.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
If information appears inside a workspace managed by a business or team, that workspace may control the underlying business records entered there.
Policy changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date shown above and post the updated version here.
